First released in 1927, the book is one of the most prominent and widely consulted medical textbooks in the United States.[1] Goldman's Cecil Medicine is often compared with Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine, which it predates by three decades.[1] Approximately one third of its authors are changed with each new edition.[2] It is currently in its 25th edition. The book has been described as "one of the most outstanding textbooks of medicine ever written".[
