Calder Willingham Book order
December 23, 1922 – February 19, 1995
Calder Willingham first gained renown at the age of twenty-four with the explicit novel End as a Man, a graphic and lurid account of life at a southern military school. His early work, which courted controversy for its perceived obscenity, positioned him among a generation of writers employing gritty realism. Although subsequent novels did not replicate this initial success, Willingham continued to explore similar themes with persistent focus. He later found acclaim as a screenwriter, contributing to several iconic films and adapting his own literary works.
