Maurice Ravel

    March 7, 1875 – December 28, 1937

Maurice Ravel was a French composer celebrated for his exquisite melodies, masterful orchestration, and richly evocative harmonies. Alongside Debussy, he stood as a prominent figure of Impressionist music, leaving an indelible mark on piano, chamber, vocal, and orchestral works. His piano compositions demand considerable virtuosity, and his command of orchestration shines through in numerous celebrated pieces. Ravel is globally renowned for his orchestral work Boléro, which he himself described as "a piece for orchestra without music."
