The Holberg Suite, composed in 1884 to celebrate Ludvig Holberg's 200th birthday, captures the essence of the 18th century through its Prelude and four dances. Initially written for piano, Edvard Grieg later arranged it for strings, conducting its premiere in Bergen. This beloved suite reflects the musical style of Holberg's time and has become one of Grieg's most performed pieces, showcasing the charm and elegance of the era.
