Menachem Begin was a pivotal political figure and the founder of the Likud party, who served as Israel's sixth Prime Minister. He is regarded as one of Israel's most remarkable individuals, having played a crucial role in the nation's creation and subsequent political landscape. Fleeing the Nazis in his youth, he rose to lead the Betar youth movement. Following his release from imprisonment, he joined the Jewish national movement, ultimately heading the underground Igun (Etzl) organization. His most significant accomplishment as prime minister was the signing of a peace treaty with Egypt in 1979. Begin also authorized the bombing of a nuclear reactor in Iraq and the 1982 invasion of Lebanon. He gradually withdrew from public life after the death of his wife.
