Lazar Lagin, born Lazar Ginzburg, was a Soviet author celebrated for his children's literature and science fiction. He is most famously known for a fairy tale depicting a magical being adapting to modern life and Soviet values, a narrative rich with cultural commentary. Lagin's science fiction often satirized the capitalist West, critiquing the misuse of technology within bourgeois societies. Beyond his novels, he also contributed as a screenwriter to various film productions.
