Matthews

Geoff Matthews crafts fantasy novels that draw readers in with the intensity of a hungry wolf in winter. His journey into writing began in childhood, finding solace in encyclopedias amidst a bustling world. He evolved from science fiction enthusiasm to a deep passion for epic fantasy, a genre he now explores through his own storytelling. His work aims to offer readers a rich and satisfying narrative experience, mirroring his own discovery of new worlds.

Saints who experience the power of prayer say it gives them wings to wings of elation from being in proximity with Jesus Christ and relief from the burden of a sinful conscience. Once engulfed in the grace of the Holy Spirit, the person in prayer experiences death to sin, resurrection in the Spirit, and mystical ascension to the Father. The visible touches the Invisible, and joy wells up in the human heart. This volume evolved the fruit of fifty-five years of solitude by a contemporary desert monk besieged by prayer. Father Matta's prayer life initially was formed under the direction of the sayings of the Russian Fathers, and later expanded under the direction of other Fathers, both Eastern and Western. He spent whole nights in prayer, reciting one or two passages from these luminaries and begging these saints to enlighten his understanding. Father Matta Whenever physical hunger turned cruel against me, I found my gratification in prayer. Whenever the biting cold of winter was unkind to me, I found my warmth in prayer. Whenever people were harsh to me (and their harshness was severe indeed) I found my comfort in prayer. In short, prayer became my food and my drink, my outfit and my armor, whether by night or by day.

    • She I know she's there, because I buried her myself. Shovel full by shovel full, I search. Regretting this decision more so the deeper I dig. She didn't deserve this. I was the one person she trusted and I've left her in the dark, all alone. She'll forgive me, even though she shouldn't. She is far too kind to stay angry long. She is the me, who has a heart of gold. She is the me, who feels things too deeply. If I didn't bury her, this world would eat her alive... and she doesn't deserve that. Committed takes experiences such as abuse, mental illness, addiction, forgiveness and love, and weaves them into a beautiful blanket of words filled with hurt, healing and hope. You'll discover within the four chapters of this book, that you are not alone in this world. Come... take my hand, I'll walk with you.

    • Comforting Melancholy! What do you mean, what does it mean? Just a title? Perhaps you can guess, or maybe you think you know already. Well you could be right; you could be wrong. I implore everyone, this is an aptly named, thoroughly entertaining novel which could very possibly be of the like you have never read before!Take the 1990s, before many things such as the smartphone and social media – a time so different a world so similar. Can you imagine? Perhaps you are too young to remember that time in the past. If older, you probably recall very well back then or could you have forgotten? Why not allow this meticulous seductive narrative to inform or remind you? At least let this progressively evolving dialogue of a particular individual and peculiar engaging story of those past days enrich your life for right now. Love, loss, lust. Comforting Melancholy, it ticks all the boxes. It begins the reflection very ordinarily, where our storyteller turns up for a wholly unsatisfactory shift, then we find this character falling into reverie. Maybe he is anxious at odds with some aspects of everyday life, or just inwardly critical of others who do not fit his ideal. With certain realisation as if hit by a bombshell, his persona is little by little presented differently and he ventures away from a lonely world. Yet while sweetly ticking all boxes, the loneliest, though inspiring, journey begins.
