Focusing on the philosophical insights of Simone de Beauvoir, this analysis critically examines how her ideas have been appropriated by "gender-critical" movements to support trans exclusion. It argues for a re-interpretation of Beauvoir's concept of becoming a woman as a means to affirm trans identities. Additionally, the work presents a Beauvoirian ethics of gender affirmation, advocating for the necessity of challenging trans exclusion and anti-trans sentiments within contemporary social and political contexts.
