Eshleman is an American poet, translator, and editor whose work often engages with ethno-poetic concerns. His extensive translation practice, commencing in the early 1960s, encompasses significant international literary figures. He founded and edited two seminal literary journals that shaped the trajectory of contemporary poetry.
