Formative Media presents a psychoanalytic and psychosocial inquiry into the significance of the most widely used digital platforms – including Facebook, Google, YouTube, Twitter (X) and Instagram – and the relational styles that users cultivate and habituate in their interplay with these platforms.
André Butzer (b. Stuttgart, 1973; lives and works in Rangsdorf outside Berlin) rose to renown with pictures he describes as ?science fiction expressionism.? They are grouped into various genres; for instance, he paints ?Peace Siemenses? or ?Disgrace Humans,? as well as completely abstract compositions. Creative minds he admires and emulates include Walt Disney, Edvard Munch, Henri Matisse, Friedrich Hölderlin, and Henry Ford. Butzer?s utopian artistic vision is anchored in the fictional place ?Nasaheim? (?N?), a kind of pilgrimage destination in outer space. Yet his paintings should not be mistaken for illustrations of narrative structures; they articulate something that could not be said before.
