Perfect for bibliophiles, these gorgeous jacketed hardbacks are a wonderful addition to any bookshelf.
The radio play of War of the Worlds is perhaps the most famous in the world. According to newspaper reports, it caused intense irritation among the people of New York and New Jersey, some of whom thought the radio play was authentic reportage and that an actual alien attack was credible. This was because Welles used a new type of recording: he recorded the radio play the day before and then had music added to it. This made the recordings seem like the normal radio program, in which the host interrupts from time to time to share the latest news about the invasion. The coverage of these incidents made the program, and with it the young Orson Welles, world famous.
