Fransje van Riel

Fransje's childhood dream of experiencing the thrill of observing wild animals came true when she first visited the African wilderness in March 1991, working as a cabin attendant for KLM. Inspired by the writings of Brian Jackman, she began her own writing career, eventually moving to the tip of the African continent to pursue it further. After contributing numerous freelance travel and wildlife stories to magazines and newspapers, she authored her first book to highlight the work of Karin Saks and the often-maligned primates of South Africa. Her subsequent book offered a true account of a Xhosa woman's perspective on rural life and apartheid, and her latest work details a man's story of living with leopards, which has already reached its third edition.
