Mike Mearls embodies the dark hope of chaotic evil, a figure of remarkable abilities and aptitudes, thoroughly wicked, depraved, and capricious. Those who harm Mearls would do well not to boast of it in the presence of anyone who might inform the Demoness Lolth. He has been dispatched to rebuild a force of men and humanoid fighters, to gather loot, and restore the Temple of Elemental Evil to its former glory. Despite his depravity, Mearls is cunning; if a situation seems in doubt, he will use bribery and honeyed words to sway the balance in his favor. He readily accepts adventurers into his ranks but continually tests and tries them, dealing quietly with those who arouse suspicion or show too much promise, as he desires no potential usurpers or threats to his domination.
