A Babushka is an elderly Russian woman who emigrated to Canada a few years ago. She survived the Chernobyl nuclear accident and is now ill. On the border between imagination and reality, her ten-year-old grandson is determined to find a solution for her "destroyed lungs." Narrated in the first person and written from the naive, tender, and sometimes ironic perspective of a child, this novel recounts the grandson's pilgrimage across a continent, as well as numerous adventures in his hometown, inhabited by a whole group of curious characters.
