Verne vložil do tohoto prostého, ale napínavého příbehu mnoho zeměpisných, přírodovědných i národopisných poznatků o dalekých krajích, o Jižní Americe, Austrálii a Tichomoří, a jako dobrý znalec lidských povah vykreslil v dětech kapitána Granta opravdové malé hrdiny, kteří jsou i dnes vzorem statečnosti a odvahy.
