As the last surviving member of the 20 July 1944 conspiracy to assassinate Adolf Hitler, this individual was involved in two attempts on the dictator's life. In one plot, he was tasked with ordering his troops in Eastern Europe to retreat to Berlin and seize control of crucial parts of the city. When the 20 July attempt failed, he halted his forces and returned to the front lines, remaining undetected. Post-war, he pursued studies in economics and became an expert in forestry, while also maintaining an active role in Catholic student fraternities.

Along with his brother Georg, Philipp von Boeselager joined a group of conspirators in a plot to kill Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler. In 'Valkyrie' he shares the story of his audacious attempt to influence the course of history.
Er war einer der letzten Zeugen. Philipp Freiherr von Boeselager gehörte zu jenen Offizieren, die Hitler töten und dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ein rasches Ende setzen wollten. 1944 organisierte er für Stauffenberg den Sprengstoff für das Attentat am 20. Juli. In dieser Lebensgeschichte erzählt er von seiner Kindheit, von seiner Karriere als Offizier und seinen Gewissensnöten, als er immer mehr Einzelheiten über die Verbrechen der Nazis erfuhr. Am Ende setzte sich sein Gewissen durch. Im Mai 2008 verstarb Boeselager im Alter von 90 Jahren. Seine Erinnerungen sind ein einmaliges zeitgeschichtliches Dokument zum Widerstand im Nationalsozialismus.
