Sally Melville

Sally Melville is a knitting designer and author whose journey began with the challenge of not being able to achieve proper gauge as a young girl. This early struggle spurred her to create her own patterns, leading to the development of uniquely appealing, unconventional garments. After initial explorations with a knitting machine and a formal class, she leveraged her university studies in math and writing to deepen her understanding of knitting design independently. Her passion for teaching and community building resulted in founding knitting classes and eventually a guild. A personal loss temporarily halted her work, but a request from her daughter reignited her creative drive, leading to her first book. Melville's subsequent work, including the widely successful "The Knit Stitch," aims to share her love and knowledge of knitting with a global audience.
