This is a faithful translation from the original Hebrew into English. Sefer Ha-Yashar, cited in Joshua 10:13, was thought lost for a long time. It should have been included among the other books of the Bible but it was omitted as were many other books.

This is an account of the greatest adventure in European history - the discovery of the rest of the world. Beginning with Henry the Navigator and ending 250 years later, the book focuses on an analysis of the factors that made the voyages possible in the first place.
