A ještě dál, v Lysolajích, byl domovem Moníkův blízký přítel, jemuž je věnováno zcela osobní závěrečné Loučení se Šabachem. Knihu doprovodil ilustracemi František Štorm.

V souboru dvanácti povídek zachytil autor jak předrevoluční osudy různorodých hrdinů, tak peripetie, s nimiž se potýkala společnost v devadesátých letech. Výjimku tvoří literární zpracování pohnutého života italského šlechtice z doby renesance, které autor pojal v duchu soudobých žánrů. Společným rysem Moníkových povídek je nadsázka, lehkost jazyka a melancholická poetičnost, která prosvítá v některých povídkách. Propracovanost postav ukazuje na autorovu výbornou znalost lidí ze širokého spektra společnosti od mafiánského podsvětí až po nejbohatší vrstvy, z nichž nejlépe vychází takzvaný obyčejný člověk, který se často nechtěně a proti své vůli stává hrdinou. Na lidské slabosti nahlíží autor s ironií, přesto však laskavě a s pochopením.
