      Kâtip Çelebi, Osmanlı entellektüel tarihi içerisinde hem klasik İslam kültürüne hem de modern batı kültürüne çözümlemeli yaklaşabilme başarısını gösteren ve bu ikisini kendi şahsında mezceden, birleştirebilen, 17. yüzyılın zirve şahsiyetlerindendir. Sadece kendi döneminin kaynak eserlerini değil, aynı zamanda batı kaynaklarını da en iyi şekilde inceleyen, tarih, coğrafya, ahlak, tasavvuf, tefekkür, sosyoloji ve tıp gibi birçok alanda eserler kaleme alan Osmanlı kültür ve tefekkür muhitinin önde gelen kişilerinden biridir. 1609 yılında İstanbul'da doğan Mustafa, Divan-ı Hümayun mensuplarının Hacı Halifesi, daha sonra ise ulemanın Katib Çelebi'sidir.
