Ernest Thompson Seton se čtenářům vybaví především jako autor Dvou divochů či Rolfa zálesáka. Dříve než spisovatel byl známý i jako ilustrátor přírodovědeckých publikací. Povídky o přírodě začal psát na základě svých loveckých a zálesáckých dovedností. V roce 1902 založil v USA první woodcrafterský chlapecký kmen. Angličan Robert Baden-Powell, zakladatel skautingu, chtěl jeho myšlenky použít v evropských podmínkách, což Setona nejdříve nadchlo, ale později se názorově rozešli. Říkal, že jeho záměrem bylo dělat ze skautů muže, kdežto Baden-Powell z nich chtěl dělat vojáky. K příběhu Monarch, The Big Bear of Fallad napsal vystihující předmluvu. Zmiňuje se v ní o řece, která se rodí vysoko v horách jako malý pramínek, protéká krajinou a nakonec končí v nížině. Na to samé se odkazují i názvy jednotlivých kapitol v knize. Aby pro vás četba nebyla tak náročná, doplnili jsme knihu zrcadlovým českým překladem a jazykovými komentáři. Věříme, že kromě zážitku z četby si navíc zdokonalíte i svou angličtinu.
