Antoine Henri baron de Jomini

Antoine-Henri Jomini was a theorist of military strategy and a historian. His extensive body of work on critical military history and strategy holds enduring value. He served in the armies of Napoleon and later the Russian Tsar Alexander I, becoming the Tsar's aide-de-camp. He subsequently served as Chief General and was responsible for the military training of the future Tsar Alexander II. In 1859, he advised Napoleon III for the Italian campaign. Jomini's analyses of military strategy and history are considered exceptionally valuable.
