Winner of the inaugural Cecil Day Lewis Poetry Award, he was short listed twice for the Tribune/Hennessy Award in 1997 and 2000. He is preparing a first collection titled Where The Music Comes From.

A cominciare dalla famiglia (zie timorate di Dio che scappano con il circo; cugine che da pescivendole si trasformano in pesci). Per proseguire con la scuola: Frate Reynolds, che è un segreto estimatore di Wilde e deve aver fatto suo il motto che "ogni uomo uccide le cose che ama", lo applica ai suoi amati studenti che riempie di bastonate. Meno male che a istillare il piacere della lettura c'è il signor Goldman, l'ebreo che vive in una casa così piena di libri che non c'è più spazio per i mobili. Ma forse non è tutto vero in questo "amarcord" irlandese in cui a tratti il racconto autobiografico ha l'atmosfera stralunata del sogno.
