Margaret Anderson was the American founder, editor, and publisher of the art and literary magazine The Little Review. Through her work between 1914 and 1929, she introduced a diverse array of modern American, English, and Irish writers to a wide audience. Her periodical is notably recognized for showcasing many prominent 20th-century American and British literary figures and for publishing early sections of James Joyce's then-unpublished novel. Anderson played a pivotal role in championing modernist literature.
