Guy Gibson Biography

Wing Commander Guy Penrose Gibson was the first commanding officer of the Royal Air Force's 617 Squadron. He led this squadron in the pivotal Dam Busters raid in 1943, a daring mission that resulted in the destruction of two major dams in the Ruhr area. His exceptional courage and leadership during this operation earned him the Victoria Cross. Gibson had completed over 170 operations by the age of 24, demonstrating remarkable bravery and dedication.
