Topher si ji oblíbí, rozhodne se si ji nechat, ovšem netuší, že se jejich přátelské pouto brzy promění v nečekané dobrodružství a boj za záchranu jejího života. Ka se přenese do starověkého Egypta a stane se obětí, jíž má být uctěna bohyně Bastet. Je jen na Topherovi, jeho odvaze a důvtipu, zda se mu kočičí kamarádku podaří spolu s tamní kněžkou zachránit?

Druhá část volné série tajuplných příběhů o chlapci Topherovi a podivuhodné kočce Ka se tentokrát odehrává v Anglii za vlády Tudorovců. Ka s tmavým znakem ankh na čele se už u Tophera úplně zabydlela. Ani Topherova kamarádka Ellie však nevěří tomu, že buď je doma Ka nebo sardonyxová soška kočky, kterou dostal Topher od maminky těsně před tím, než zahynula při letecké havárii. Topher už sošku dlouho neviděl, ale jednoho sobotního rána ji Ellie najde za knihami v knihovně. Topherovi je jasné, že Ka už zase cestuje časem. Navíc čeká Tophera ještě jedna, pro něj velmi nepříjemná událost. Tatínek se sblížil s doktorkou Molly Carstairsovou, rozhodl se, že se s ní ožení a přestěhují se s Topherem do jejího domu.
