Ta se dobrodušně se spolucestujícími rozdělí o své hojné zásoby jídla a cesta jim všem pak rychle utíká až do večera, kdy musí zastavit v zájezdním hostinci. A tam začnou problémy... Kulička je skvělou Maupassantovou povídkou nemilosrdně odhalující maloměšťáckou ubohost a pokrytectví, které se během půl druhého století vlastně vůbec nezměnily.
