Emily Carr

Emily Carr was a Canadian artist and writer whose work was deeply inspired by the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest. A pioneer in adopting a post-impressionist style in Canada, Carr gained wider recognition later in her life. Her artistic focus evolved from Indigenous themes to landscapes, particularly forest scenes. As a writer, she was among the earliest chroniclers of life in British Columbia.
