Charles Haddon Spurgeon was England's most renowned preacher for much of the latter half of the nineteenth century. At the young age of twenty, just four years after his conversion, he became the pastor of the famed New Park Street Church in London. His sermons, delivered to immense crowds often exceeding 10,000 listeners, demonstrated his extraordinary rhetorical skill and influence in an era before amplification. He thus became a pivotal religious figure of his time.
