Konstantin Sergejewitsch Stanislawski Series
Konstantin Stanislavski was a Russian actor and theatre director whose innovative contribution to modern European and American realistic acting became the cornerstone of mainstream Western performance training for much of the last century. Stanislavski organized his realistic techniques into a coherent and usable 'system'. Through its promotion by former students and numerous translations of his theoretical writings, his system acquired unprecedented international reach, dominating Western acting discourse. His work was as crucial to the development of Soviet socialist realism as it was to American psychological realism. While many equate his 'system' with the American Method, Stanislavski's approach was multivariant, holistic, and psychophysical, exploring character and action both 'inside out' and 'outside in,' which he termed 'spiritual Realism.'
