Přinesla řadu portrétů především žen, které se autorce svěřily se svými intimními příběhy – vzniklo tak dílo vcelku věrně odrážející každodenní marockou realitu, což především evropským čtenářům umožňuje nahlédnout do problémů lidí, žijících v jiném kulturním prostředí, ale majících stejné přirozené potřeby. Protagonistky předkládaných příběhů pocházejí z různých sociálních vrstev, vesměs všechny se ale ocitly v soukolí tradice, víry a zároveň emancipace, všechny musejí více či méně podvádět, aby unikly permanentní hrozbě trestu rodinného, náboženského nebo policejního. Totéž platí ovšem i pro muže a ještě více pro homosexuály. Výchova i oficiální zákony jsou ve stálém rozporu s praktickým životem, všeobecná přetvářka připravuje půdu pro korupci, brutální zásahy do intimity a frustraci
