Étienne de La Boétie

    November 1, 1530 – August 18, 1563

    Étienne de La Boétie was a French philosopher and writer, considered a founder of modern political philosophy in France. He is most notably remembered as the close friend of Michel de Montaigne. His work significantly influenced anarchist thought. La Boétie's writings explore themes of natural law and liberty.
