The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary is the first medium-to-large-scale Chinese reference book in China. The purpose of the publication is to standardize the Chinese language. The dictionary is well-known for the authoritative entries, explanations and examples as well as its user-friendly compiling system. It contains about 56,000 entries including characters, words and expressions, idiomatic phrases and idioms. It won the First National Book Award and has sold over 50 millions copies so far.
