Hugh Pentecost

Hugh Pentecost was the pseudonym of mystery author Judson Philips, who rose to prominence during the golden age of pulp magazines. Philips penned suspense fiction and sports stories for numerous famous pulps before launching his novel career in 1939 with a Red Badge Prize win. Over a five-decade span, he crafted nearly one hundred books, often featuring distinctive characters like the sleuthing hotel manager Pierre Chambrun and the investigative reporter Peter Styles. Despite failing vision and poor health, Philips continued to write daily until his passing.
