Sangen om den røde rubin – og rettssaken som fulgte – utgjør et eget kapittel i norsk etterkrigshistorie. Det ble reist sak mot Agnar Mykle og direktør Harald Grieg i Gyldendal, for brudd på utuktsparagrafen i norsk lov. Ved dom i Oslo byrett oktober 1957, ble restopplaget av boken inndratt. Mykle og Grieg ble frikjent. Men også inndragningen ble senere opphevet av Høyesterett juni 1958.
