I racconti proposti esplorano il difficile cammino dal dolore alla guarigione attraverso una sorprendente varietà di modulazioni. Il corpo e la psiche, centrali in queste narrazioni, sono così legati al dolore da ostacolare la guarigione, fino a quando la liberazione si fa strada, alleggerendo il peso della carne. Talvolta, la paura di nuovi dolori impedisce il processo di guarigione. In un racconto, un trauma infantile ha bloccato la memoria della protagonista, rendendo necessario un viaggio interiore per liberarsi dal ricordo doloroso. Il tema della memoria riaffiora in un altro racconto, dove una giovane donna rivive un'esperienza traumatica durante la separazione dei genitori. Un'atmosfera disperata e euforica pervade un'altra storia, che racconta una festa improvvisata con toni di realismo. In un racconto fiabesco, una nonna insegna alla nipote il linguaggio delle piante, simbolo di cura e amore. Un'altra narrazione, ambientata tra Sicilia e Toscana, esplora la vicinanza tra felicità e dolore, evidenziando come la gioia possa nascondere esperienze di lutto. Toni gotici e dark si intrecciano in un racconto che, partendo dall'ombra di un serial killer, evolve in una toccante love story. 'Hardboiled' opens as the narrator, a woman in her 30s, treks high above her secluded mountain hotel. There she confronts the fears and the sense of loss that haunt her. In 'Hard Luck', we find another female narrator, this one keeping vigil by the side of her sister who lies in a coma.
