Forgotten for decades in a dusty trunk, this work brings back the unmistakable voice of Margaret Wise Brown, allowing a new generation of children to discover and cherish her artistry. Never before published, it shines a light on children worldwide, from "a Dutch boy dreams" to "across the sea in the Far, Far East," echoing the familiar lines: "I see the Moon And the Moon sees me. God bless the Moon, And God bless me." Brown, a pioneer of children's literature, wrote stories that resonated with children rather than adults. She is best known for classics like Good Night Moon and Runaway Bunny, which remain best-sellers. At the height of her career, she had over 100 books in print, but her untimely death left many manuscripts forgotten in a cedar trunk. This work was rescued from that trunk. Illustrator Linda Bleck began her artistic journey as a child, drawing on blueprint paper and later assisting her mother, a freelance illustrator. Her work has appeared in notable publications, and she is also known for the "Pepper the Dog" series. This manuscript, published 56 years after Brown's death, was discovered in a Vermont barn, yellowed and rusted. Publisher Laura Minchew took on the challenge to complete it, crafting a bedtime classic that serves as a prayer for God's blessing on all children.
