Form Editions promotes and deepens the research on contemporary designers through the publication of a volume devoted to works by Karim Rashid in collaboration with companies from around the world. The objective is to present objects, installations, and testimonials from friends and associates, capturing all aspects and facets that make his career and life extraordinary. Hundreds of products are described and commented on by the author to investigate the evolution of his design language and contemporary design. Text contributions, interviews, and personal images show the figure of Karim Rashid and his relationship with leading figures in the world of art, fashion, design, and industrial production. The book is written in collaboration with Marco Casamonti, former curator of the exhibition "Karim Rashid an edit from the last 15 years," presented at the Triennale in Milan during the Salone del Mobile 2011. The figure of Karim Rashid goes beyond the designer; he enjoys a popularity without boundaries and expresses the personality of a complete artist. A global creative, he has starred in sensual and minimalist design that has captured the market with over 3000 designs in production, eclectic and eccentric, capable of perceiving more than the standard reactions and sensations generated by space and what occupies it. Karim Rashid aims to change the world with design.
Featuring a selection of the best installations realized in museums, exhibitions and other spaces, this volume gives an in-depth account of recent developments in the art of exhibition design in Italy. With a range of the most significant works of the last ten years, the book seeks to draw the reader's attention to a remarkably Italian discipline, the works of Franco Albini, BBPR, Carlo Scarpa and others, focusing on a series of spaces and installations in which the innovatory aspects of exhibition design are most evident. Italian exhibition design is unique insofar as it integrates the historic space with that of the exhibition, involving not only restoration and conservation but also a modern approach to architectural design deriving from the historical tradition of adding to what has already been built. The book illustrates this methodology with a variety of exhibition installations realized in Italy.
