Bem and de Jong present complex ideas in an accessible manner, providing undergraduate psychology students with essential resources to reflect on pressing conceptual issues in their discipline. The 3rd edition offers an authoritative overview of conceptual issues in psychology, introducing the underlying philosophies that shape them. It features new insights from the philosophy of science, enhancing psychological coverage to illustrate the interrelation between these fields, promoting an integrative understanding of fundamental debates and their connections to broader studies. Key features of this edition include concise paragraphs, multiple examples, and additional summaries to help focus on critical knowledge areas. Textboxes with definitions and key concepts aid in understanding the main debates and ideas. There is new content on the philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, cognition, and cognitive neuroscience, along with updated material on consciousness and evolutionary psychology. For educators, PowerPoint slides are available for each chapter. This textbook remains essential for students engaged in courses on conceptual and historical issues in psychology, the philosophy of psychology, or theoretical psychology.
Sacha Bem Book order (chronological)

`As will be evident, this is a wide conspectus in textbook mode (cited authors are frequently characterized and ascribed dates). The treatment is generally clear and up-to-date. It is eclectic with a welcome inclusion of European as well as American authors.... Positive features are the introductions to and summaries of sections; and the glossary (which will certainly be found useful by students). The English is virtually impeccable.... The book is similar in scope to Bechtel's Philosophy of Mind and Philosophy of Science , and my own Conceptual Issues in Psychology , being more comprehensive and less partisan than Bechtel, and more philosophical and less psychological than Valentine. I am in a particularly good position
