Goran Tribuson Biography
August 6, 1948
This Croatian author began publishing short stories in the early 1970s, initially focusing on the fantastic. Critics quickly recognized him as a leading figure in the Croatian literary tradition inspired by Borges, achieving full authorial maturity. He gradually moved away from pure fantasy but retained an interest in Central European iconography and occult themes in his novels. His later works are divided into autobiographical and generationally defined narratives, often set in his hometown of Bjelovar, and a series of successful crime novels featuring former policeman Nikola Banić, which have garnered acclaim from both critics and a wide readership.
