This is the catalog for a unique exhibition shown at the Museum Boyman-van Beuningen in Rotterdam, Holland, and at the Jamestown Settlement Museum in Williamsburg, Virginia. Drawing on European and North American archeological collections, it traces the 'careers' of a number of 17th century European household articles as they were repurposed in Native American cultures of eastern North America. Included are 11 essays by American and Dutch authors, exploring a variety of examples of trade, transformation and acculturation. Well illustrated. Text is in both Dutch and English.
