One of Massachusetts Bible Society's Top Ten Religious Books of 2004 and a bestseller on both the New York Times and Publishers Weekly lists, this remarkable work invites readers to confront their doubts about God and religion. Dr. Timothy Johnson, medical editor for ABC News, encourages you not to shy away from your questions, as he believes this is where God meets you. He shares his personal journey of faith, using his analytical skills to investigate the plausibility of God's existence and the significance of Jesus. Despite the challenges of faith, he articulates his beliefs and the reasons behind them, stating, "As a physician, I have committed my professional life to healing and wellness. But my public work is only a small part of who I really am." He acknowledges that religion can provide answers to life's big questions, yet it can also raise more questions. Having experienced both doubt and belief, he asserts that doubt can purify belief, leading to greater certainty. He invites you to join him on this journey, encouraging you to ask your questions and perhaps discover God in the process.
