Luigi Rossi, a recent graduate landscape architect, is eager to start his own business but needs funds. To support himself, he works as a steward for an airline, where he regularly encounters Nathifa Rahman, a third-year medical student from a prominent, liberal Qatari family. Their mutual attraction is immediate and overwhelming, leading to a passionate romance that they must keep secret from Nathifa's family. Just as their relationship begins to deepen, tragedy strikes: Nathifa must return home due to her father's illness, where she discovers her fate has already been decided—she is to marry Talal Ashlan, a wealthy, progressive man, and become his second wife. Resigned to her unhappy role, Nathifa immerses herself in her work to cope with her new reality. However, fate intervenes when her husband commissions an Italian company, led by Luigi and his older mentor, for a green energy project.
