Aujourd'hui, ce best-seller américain est enfin traduit chez Denoël, un bon coup d’édition. Maître du suspense paranormal, Farris met en scène des adolescents américains inquiétants. Prenons Robin, un garçon de 10 ans capable de faire retomber une pièce sur la même face à plusieurs reprises. S'il avait le temps, il pourrait même la faire léviter. Et Gillian, la jeune adolescente, est à éviter lorsqu'elle patine, car elle peut provoquer des hémorragies fulgurantes chez les autres, laissant une cicatrice en forme de croix sur le front.
