Allan Kardec

    October 3, 1804 – March 31, 1869

    Under the pseudonym was the teacher, translator, and author Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail, the father of Spiritism. He was a member of several scholarly societies and for decades advanced Pestalozzi's pedagogy in France. He organized and taught free courses for the underprivileged, working as a teacher, educational writer, and translator.
