Tuto stereotypní bezútěšnost však Dunn zároveň mění v touhu po verbálním i smyslovém kontaktu s těmito dívkami: chce „cítit jejich dotyky“, „poznat, jak žijí“, prostě „něco nového se dovědět“. Druhý oddíl pak obsahuje Dunnovu tvorbu z dalších období: i tady autor dokazuje, že v ní umí zvládnout jak vypravěčskou polohu, tak i své oblíbené literární formy, mezi něž patří sonet nebo elegie.
