Johann Georg Gichtel

    Johann Georg Gichtel was a German mystic and religious leader who was a critic of Lutheranism, eventually leading his followers to separate from the faith. He became an ardent disciple of Jakob Böhme, whose works he published. Before his death, Gichtel attracted a small band of followers known as "Gichtelians" or "Brethren of the Angels." These followers propagated views that Gichtel had arrived at independently, showcasing his unique spiritual journey.
