The beatification of the Austrian martyr on October 26th 2007 in Linz Cathedral is an outstanding day, an expression of something which has grown stronger over the decades, reaching far beyond the borders of his homeland: a deep sense of the value of this farmer and father of a family who was executed in 1943, a victim of the unjust National Socialist system which he rejected out of religious conscience. The Catholic Church is hereby expressly recognicing the courageous attitude of this faithful man, who still has so much to say to us today.

Die Seligsprechung des österreichischen Märtyrers Franz Jägerstätter am 26. Oktober 2007 im Mariendom zu Linz stellt ein herausragendes Datum der in Jahrzehnten gewachsenen, weit über seine Heimat hinaus reichenden Wertschätzung dieses Bauern und Familienvaters dar, der 1943 als Opfer des von ihm aus seinem religiösen Gewissen heraus abgelehnten nationalsozialistischen Unrechtssystems hingerichtet wurde. Die katholische Kirche anerkennt damit ausdrücklich die Haltung dieses gläubigen Mannes, der sehr wohl auch uns Heutigen etwas zu sagen hat.

Franz Jägerstätter byl beatifikován v roce 2007, ještě za života své ženy a tří dcer. České vydání knihy obsahuje i výbor zásadních Jägerstätterových textů, dopisů a přípisů. Na motivy jeho života natočil v roce 2019 režisér Terence Malick film Skrytý život, který získal cenu ekumenické poroty na festivalu v Cannes.
