Arameans, Chaldeans, and Arabs in Babylonia and Palestine in the First Mill. B. C. edited by Angelika Berlejung and Michael P. Streck comprises the papers presented at an international workshop in the Villa Tillmanns/Leipzig on 24th and 25th of June 2010. The interdisciplinary event was part of the research projects on „Space and Mobility in Mesopotamia, Syria and Palestine in the Time of the Neo-Assyrian and Neo-Babylonian Period“. Organized by the Universities of Leipzig and of Halle-Wittenberg among others, the projects are part of the Collaborative Research Center „Difference and Integration“ (SFB 586). The resulting volume has ist focus on the interaction between nomadic, mobile and settled cultures, and possible mechanisms of inculturation. The contributors examine the material finds and written sources in order to deepen our understanding of the history, geography, culture, and religion of the Aramean, Chaldean and Arabian tribes.

Metody zkoumání a náboženské okolí Starého zákona. Kniha profesorky Angeliky Berlejung Náboženské dějiny starověkého Izraele představuje vynikající úvod do dějin náboženství v oblasti, kde vznikla hebrejská Bible, v křesťanském kontextu označovaná jako Starý zákon. Skládá se ze dvou hlavních částí: první se zaměřuje na přehled pramenů a základní metodologii disciplín, které se zaobírají studiem dějin starověkého Izraele a jeho posvátných knih, druhá se věnuje historii a zejména dějinám náboženství na území starověkého Izraele. Autorka, jež působí jako profesorka Starého zákona se zaměřením na dějiny a náboženství Izraele a okolních zemí na Teologické fakultě univerzity v Lipsku, se tu pokouší o syntézu dosaženého vědění o tématu a ve svém textu přináší širokou škálu informací, které jsou nezbytné pro hlubší porozumění Starému zákonu. Přehledně členěný výklad doplňují tabulky, mapy a nákresy, a také výkladový rejstřík základních pojmů a přehled doporučené literatury. Kniha by měla zaplnit citelnou mezeru a povzbudit studenty v zájmu o velice zajímavé téma, jímž je biblická archeologie a kulturní a náboženský život v Palestině v době, kdy se zde formuje biblická tradice. Kniha vychází s podporou Česko-německého fondu budoucnosti.
