Drawing on her thirty years' experience as a social worker in England and three Australian states, Margaret Hughes' stories explore the dark world at the heart of modern Western society. In this hidden world, children and the elderly suffer misfortune, violence and tragedy. The perpetrators of abuse and exploitation range from poor, illiterate parents to the privileged elite. The response from the authorities is, at times, protective and benign while at other times incompetent and even destructive. But above all else, it is the survivors who shine through. Their remarkable resilience and their uniquely creative solutions break through the adversity they have suffered. There is symmetry between the dilemmas they face and the answers they find.

About the Author My chosen career for 25 years has been teaching in the public and private school arena. My specialty has always been in early childhood education. For the last 13 years of my teaching career as a literacy specialist, I taught reading and composition writing to first and second grade students. Upon retiring as an active educator, I have been continuing my own joy of writing by publishing children's books. My first published book, "Just Ask Solomon," is now being followed with "Solomon's Mission." I hope this second book in the Solomon series will bring you and the children in your life great joy as you read or listen together. I have been blessed with a wonderfully supportive husband, three children, and 10 grandchildren. I reside in both Washington State and Arizona along with my husband, Kirby, and Miniature Schnauzer, Lily. I continue to have a passion for bringing together parents and children in the conversation surrounding stories.
